Daibutsu Kamakura hard-on, Pencil on paper, 11" x 14"
Perhaps the most famous image of the Japanese Buddha is the 12th Century figure of the great Daibutsu at Kamakura, Japan. Originally house in a temple that was destroyed by a title way the great buddah now sits out in the open for all to see. The buddha is large enough to go into and climb to the top. This drawing here of Daibutsu is base on my memory of the many visits that I payed to this famous shrine while I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. The erection is gesture of humor for how con you pass up an image with this great hands-in-lap image!
